Tom Marguccio is a retired cabinet maker and custom woodworker with 40 years of experience, based in Indiana county. He earned a Journeymen Certificate with the Pennsylvania Home Builders Association and has taken Furniture Design classes at IUP. A self-taught woodturner, Tom specializes in bobbin Lace bobbins which include Idrija, Cantu, Dutch and Binche bobbins. He has honed his wood turning skills to becoming a nationally known bobbin maker.
Working with his wife Allie who makes and teaches Idrija lace from the country of Slovenia, Tom makes items related to her craft; hand turned bobbins, crochet hook handles, pin pots, bolster pillow stands and bolster pillows. He makes the Slovenian bolster pillows in the traditional way by stuffing a cloth tube with sawdust. He also imports thread from Slovenia used in making Idrija Lace. Tom demonstrates wood turning on an 1895 treadle lathe at various living history events and is a vendor at various lace conventions and workshops in the USA.
