Anyone can be an advocate for the arts. If you participate in arts activities you know how important and beneficial they are in your community. Letting others know about this is arts advocacy. Advocating for the arts with government representatives takes this a bit further, to ensure that funding is in place for strong arts programs and activities.
Arts Advocacy
Pennsylvania has a legislative group in place for arts advocacy. The Pennsylvania Arts and Culture Caucus is a bicameral, bipartisan caucus that was established in October 2012. Its purpose is to provide caucus members access to the latest research, education and policy developments on arts and culture. Additionally caucus members are supported in their efforts to draft and pass legislation that advances arts, culture, and tourism in the Commonwealth. Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania (CAP) is an organization that is committed to promoting and advocating for the arts statewide. CAP connects with legislators to strengthen support for arts and culture across the state.
