Hope Springs Eternal: The Holocaust Project

Hope Springs Eternal: The Holocaust Project is a collaboration between Vision Together 2025, The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance, and the Arts Coalition of the Alleghenies to bring a unique educational opportunity to the region.  Taking place in 2024, the project will help people to learn about a tragic time in world history and to recognize and commemorate the resilience of humanity.

Fiddler on the Roof

A centerpiece of Hope Springs Eternal: The Holocaust Project, is a large scale production of the musical, Fiddler on the Roof. This exciting and historic project is led by a professional theater staff including director, Paul Seymour, assistant director, Wendy Stewart, music director, Mari Grace Lingenfelter, choreographer, Sierra Gdula, stage manager, Cathy Seymour, assistant stage manager, Tara Brodish, costume designer, Judy Bingler, set designer, Al Pelliccioni and production manager, Tom Brubaker.

This community theater production takes place on Friday November 1, 2024 at 7:30 pm and on Saturday November 2, 2024 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm. The theater experience is truly a “once in a lifetime” opportunity because of the scope and importance of the entire project!

Announcing PRAA’s Folk and Traditional Arts Partnership!

The Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance has recently been named as a provisional partner in the PA Council on the Arts’ Folk and Traditional Arts program. We cover the PCA’s Region 13 which includes Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana and Jefferson Counties.

We are delighted to welcome Lindsay Anne Herring, folklorist/consultant to work with us to build our program. Read about Lindsay here. Stay tuned to learn more as we to work to identify the wonderful folk and traditional arts that are in the region!

Promoting the Arts

The arts are alive and thriving in southwestern Pennsylvania! In communities throughout the region there are a great many arts and cultural events and activities for young and old. There are musical performances, theater productions, art classes, dance classes, art galleries, arts festivals, ethnic foods and so much more. Member Organizations

Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance member organizations range from very small, all volunteer-driven groups to larger organizations with offices, performance and exhibit spaces and paid staff. Members include performing arts organizations, community arts centers, groups that focus on children’s activities, festival presenters, and more. Individual members are also welcome.

Grant Opportunities

The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts’ Partners in the Arts (PPA) program provides grant funding to arts organizations and individual artists in all 67 counties in Pennsylvania. Other opportunities are also available through the PCA.  PRAA’s partnership with the 1889 Foundation provides grant funds to applicants in Cambria and Somerset Counties. These grant funds support projects and activities that have an arts component and a health/wellness component.
