Sandy Trimble is a fiber artist and has been an active member of the Fiber Arts Guild of Pittsburgh for 15 years. Specializing in Woven and Fiber Craft, Sandy works in wool, making felt objects, dyes using Shibori techniques, and loom-controlled design weaving. She has recently begun to focus her loom-controlled weaving on work that uses music scores to create woven design patterns as well as on traditional weaving patterns. She has created hand puppets that are 100% wool wet and dry felted into fun animal shapes. The Shibori scarves she makes are 100% silk. Sandy is interested in creative weave design, the use of natural dyes, and continued growth as an artist.
Sandy has over 30 years’ experience as an art educator, having taught in the public schools for 15 years, and as a residency artist for the last 20 years. Sandy believes that students should enjoy how things are created in order to be able to explore materials freely; the end result will take care of itself.
