Barry Poglein is an artist based in Indiana, PA, working in many mediums, including wood sculpture, ice carving, song writing, mural painting, and much more. During Barry’s 35 years of teaching as an elementary art instructor, he was active in helping to establish Youth Art Camp in Indiana, performed as chainsaw artist during New Growth, and demonstrated innovative 3-D band saw sculpture before the International Wood Collectors Society. Barry is instrumental in the Indiana arts scene, including a notable performance art piece of constructing kinetic sculptures for various venues including county homes, schools, private parties and artist residencies. Barry’s latest creations are whistles, individually handcrafted from bamboo that he and his wife have grown on their property near New Florence. He has demonstrated the technique while conducting whistle workshops for schools and crafts events.
