“Ways of Wood” Exhibition at The Artists Hand
The Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance and The Artists Hand Gallery have partnered for an exhibition entitled “Ways of Wood“. This exhibition celebrates the enduring tradition of making things out of wood, from traditional to contemporary. Wood has deep roots in folk art. It is a foundational material in folk and traditional art in its various capacities ranging from woodturning, woodcarving, joinery, instrument making, toolmaking, and more.
Featured artists whose work is on display include Robert Gordon III, Barry Poglein, Justin Coffee, Russell Schall, Alan Luckey, Leonard Kaminski, Dennis Nebgen, and Sharon Boykiw. The exhibited works include a violin, wooden inlaid bowls, sculpture, puzzles, weaver’s perfect memory boxes, and much more! The exhibit opened with a reception on Friday August 16, 2024 and will close on Saturday September 14, 2024. On Thursday August 29 there will be a Bluegrass Jam at The Artists Hand from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Led by Robert Gordon III and Gordon Glen, this is a perfect accompaniment to viewing the wood works of art and enjoying a coffee and a snack or sandwich!
