Facebook Ad Manager – Why and How You Should Use This Facebook Feature

In our last blog, we talked about the benefits of Facebook, and what features are free for all businesses and nonprofit organizations to use in order to engage online with your audiences. While sharing posts and creating groups can be effective, using the paid Facebook advertising feature can allow you to grow your audience, and reach people outside of your typical network.

So why should you use Facebook Ads?

Facebook has a huge, global audience.

  • Facebook has long been considered one of the best places for businesses and organizations to market themselves online. With over 2 billion monthly users, Facebook is also one of the most commonly used social media sites.

Facebook Ad Manager is relatively simple to use

  • Ad Manager has a simple user-friendly interface with guides on how to create an ad, manage the promotion of it, and measure its success.

Ads are highly customizable

  • With the Ad Manager, your ad options are practically endless. Ad Manager helps you to create ads based on your organization’s goals, can include various media, and can be specified to be dispersed to your target audience.

How do you use Facebook Ads?

Access Ad Manager

  • Once you have your business page setup, visit your page as an administrator, and under the “Manage Page” menu click “Ad Center.” Once on the “Ad Center” page, there will be a large blue button on the right side of the screen to “Create Ad”

Set Goals

  • It is first important to set goals for your ad campaign. These should include:
      • Budget Goals: How much do you want to spend?
      • Audience Goals: How many people do you want to reach? What demographics are they? Age? Location?
      • Results: What do you want the ad to do? Drive traffic to your website?

Create Ad

  • Make sure to create an ad using best practice guidelines and with content that makes sense. Your ad should include a heading, a description, some media to obtain the attention of people scrolling through, and a call to action. Visit this article to learn more about what should go into an ad.

Set Parameters

  • Set parameters for your ad based on the goals you set earlier. The Ad Manager will allow you to set a budget, select a target audience, and define the amount of people you want to reach daily.

Run campaign and Read Ad Reports

  • Once finished creating your ad campaign, let Facebook run the campaign and make sure to check in routinely to read the reports Facebook generates.
