We congratulate Jeanne Gleason of Johnstown on her appointment as chairwoman of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, effective immediately. Jeanne has been the vice chairperson for the past three years.
She replaces Susan Corbett, the current chairwoman, who is stepping down after serving the council for 12 years. The appointment of Jeanne to fill the position was made by Governor Tom Corbett.
About her position on the state arts council, Jeanne said, “I’ve been a member for 14 years, and Susan was the chair who spent the most time traveling across the state to arts events and functions, giving visual support and sometimes financial support through the council.” Jeanne was happy and honored to be asked to fill Mrs. Corbett’s position, and she looks forward to becoming much busier and traveling more to arts organizations across the state.
Jeanne was involved in the creation of the Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance, serving as Executive Director and now as a board member. She has been a vital force in emphasizing the importance of the arts in our local region and statewide.
